HIGHWAY CLOSED NORTH OF TAREE

The Pacific Highway, north of Taree, is blocked by a serious accident at Johns River.

The crash happened on the Stewarts River Bridge, and involved a truck and a number of cars.

One person is dead and another trapped.

Two rescue helicopters are on their way to the scene.

Traffic is being diverted via the Oxley and new England Highways.
