LEATHERBACK TURTLE ENDANGERED
January 20, 2009
The world’s rarest turtle has been placed on the endangered species list by the federal government.
While this is good news it may be too late to save the leatherback turtle, a frequent visitor to the far-north coast.
Recent studies show just over 1,000 females survive in the eastern Pacific, compared to almost 5,000 a decade ago.
