ULTRALIGHT CRASHES ON LAKE MACQUARIE

Two people have escaped a plane crash on Lake Macquarie.
A small amphibious aircraft flipped on landing in Kilaben Bay near the World War Two flying boat base around 3.30 pm.The pilot and passenger both suffered facial cuts, but managed to scramble free of the upturned aircraft.The plane is fitted with both wheels and floats, and it’s believed the wheels weren’t fully retracted before an attempt was made to land on the water.
It’s the third ultralight to crash in New South Wales this week.
On Sunday a couple was injured when their ultralight clipped a fence near Clarence Town.
Less than 24 hours later a pilot had to scramble from his aircraft when it caught fire on take off at Warnervale Airport on the Central Coast.
